‘No possibility’ of satellite Ducati ride for Giugliano

Dumped works Ducati World Superbike star Davide Giugliano believes he has no possibility of remaining with the manufacturer in a satellite team and is now looking at his options which will mean a change of brand or even a switch to Moto2.

The fast Roman has been replaced in the squad by veteran Marco Melandri who will partner Chaz Davies for a second time as they were paired at BMW Italia in 2013. But it has left the Italian with limited availablity and nothing with the Barni or VFT teams.

“No. I don’t see any possibility. I’m not scared of challenges and I’m evaluating all the possibilities, also outside the World Superbike Championship. I have some very good offers in Moto2 and I’m taking into consideration also this opportunity. Of course it’s more challenging. I would have to learn new circuits and I haven’t been riding a 600cc machine in the last ten years,” Giugliano told bikesportnews.com.

“I’m working on my future and my career. It’s a very delicate moment and I cannot make a false step. I am not the kind of guy that starts rumours and speculations. I speak with facts. Fortunately there are still some winning opportunities in WSBK and we are negotiating.”

Giugliano could step into the Puccetti Kawasaki team, who had planned to move into WSBK with Melandri but lost out to Ducati for his signature. Leon Camier and Josh Brookes have also been linked to the team.
