Oulton BSB: Kiyonari quickest in damp third session

Buildbase BMW’s Ryuichi Kiyonari was the fastest rider during the final MCE British Superbike free practice session at a damp Oulton Park this afternoon. The triple-champ lapped a 1’37.106 followed closely by Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes, who went one tenth slower than the Japanese racer.

Anvil Hire TAG Racing Kawasaki’s Richard Cooper and JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Westmoreland rounded off the top four in mixed conditions. The morning did start out with heavy rain showers but the dark clouds soon past making way for bright blue skies halfway through FP3.

PBM Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne did not go out in the final free practice session but remained top of the combined timesheets after his quickest time of a 1’35.379, in FP1 in dry conditions yesterday.

Tyco BMW’s Tommy Bridewell, Kiyonari, PBM Kawasaki’s Stuart Easton and JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Ellison completed the overall top five fastest times.

Only the top thirty quickest riders progress into qualifying, meaning Honda Racing’s Jenny Tinmouth, David McFadden and Rhalf Lo Turco all miss out on fighting for a front row start. RAF Reserves BMW’s Peter Hickman is still recovering from yesterday’s FP2 crash and was deemed unfit to take part after sustaining two broken ribs.
