Oulton BSB: Linfoot 'upset and disappointed' after two DNFs

Honda Racing Dan Linfoot did not have the best of race weekend’s and came away from the second round of the MCE British Superbike championship at Oulton Park with a zero points tally after crashing in both races.

Luckily Linfoot was unhurt in both incidences, but he fell with two laps remaining in the opening race whilst in the lead at Hizzy’s. In race-two in mixed weather conditions he went for a wet front and intermediate rear tyre compounds and as the track started to dry he began to struggle with the front end.

He crashed, but this time at Shell and was in the middle of a battle out on the circuit with JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam. Linfoot is understandably upset, frustrated and disappointed with his double DNF’s.

“I am not hurt but I am mentally scarred. What a day?! Two DNF’s no points, led the first race and I am so upset. I am not ashamed to admit it, but I cried all the way back from race-one on the back of the bike. I need that first win and belief that I can win here and beat these guys, and I was only a few laps away from doing that,” said Linfoot, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“I did not really feel that I made a huge error and I turned the bike in and the rear did not follow. Obviously it was in a point in the race where it was becoming drier and the tyre was more worn so I am just frustrated.

“I think we showed the bike and rider can be as strong as anyone. I was on a wet front and intermediate rear for race-two and I thought that was a good choice as it looked quite wet, but three laps in closing the front on such a dry track it was never going to work.

“I lost the front three times before I eventually crashed so I was a sitting duck with that, and that is disappointing. It could have so easily been a win as well, and I want to say thank you to my Dainese airbag in my suit as it went off and it was awesome.”
