JG Speedfit Kawasaki's Luke Mossey is now only three points adrift of series leader, and team-mate Leon Haslam at the top of the MCE British Superbike championship standings, after a podium finish at Oulton Park.
Mossey ended race one in third, and even though he didn't make it into the top three in race two, he ended the day in a solid fifth. Title rival Haslam crashed out after getting caught up in an incident on track with McAMS Yamaha's James Ellison, and was unable to win any points in the final race.
The ZX-10RR rider has a healthy 14 podium credits to his name and even though he missed out on a rostrum to Be Wiser Ducati's Shane Byrne, Glenn Irwin and Honda Racing's Jason O'Halloran in race two, he is still happy that he was able to bag a podium spot earlier in the day.
"The start was quite steady and five laps in Leon picked the pace up, and I got a gap on fourth and stayed behind Shakey and five laps to go the SC1 didn't drop off like the zero did - just starting to spin on the edge of the tyre and lost the tow, but happy to be back on the podium and to have some podium credits," said Mossey after race one.
"We will look back at the data to see why it was sliding so much, and why it wasn't sliding on the Saturday when we did race runs - maybe because the rain last night and this morning changed on the track, but it good to be back on the box."
