Bradley Ray has had an impressive rookie year in the MCE British Superbike championship. He has been building up the pace on the new Buildbase Suzuki, and the hard work has paid off as he bagged his maiden podium finish in race two at Oulton Park.
Ray was up the sharp end with more experienced riders, Honda Racing’s Dan Linfoot and JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam and the trio were all fighting for the win. The youngster showed that he could keep up with the duelling pair and crossed the line in third.
The 20-year-old said he was ‘speechless’ as he was aiming for top ten finishes in his debut season in the blue riband class. But clinching his first piece of silverware is ‘unbelievable’ and now he hopes there is more to come going into the final five races.
“I am speechless, to be in my first year in Superbike and on a brand new Suzuki is unbelievable, but to come away from my first year in BSB with a podium is unbelievable,” said Ray at the circuit.
“To be honest I was pushing on quite hard and I did get a bit of arm pump trying to hold on to it towards the end and a caught up with the boys and I thought just settle and take the podium and the points.
“I have learnt from following Linfoot and Haslam and it has been really interesting and gained loads of experience and we can work from this and keep the ball rolling now.”
