Oulton BSB: Seeley edges Kennedy to opening Supersport win

Veteran Alastair Seeley snatched victory from Jack Kennedy in today's Dickies British Supersport sprint race after a race-long battle that went down to the final corner.

The EHA Racing Yamaha man beat series leader Kennedy with an authoritative move at Lodge on the last lap, pinching 25 points from the Integro Yamaha man.

But it was Gearlink Kawasaki rider Currie who was first into Old Hall as Seeley and Kennedy tucked in behind, and both Irishmen took turns at the lead while they stretched a gap of over a second ahead of a chasing James Rispoli and Brad Jones.

Seeley held the lead with four laps to go, but Kennedy hit the front with a pass at Island Bend and immediately pulled a few bike lengths on Seeley and Currie, but the latter two had pulled his advantage back the time they completed the lap.

Kennedy, however, fell victim to a surprise move by Seeley at Druids as the Wee Wizard took the lead with just over three laps to go, but Kennedy wasn't finished and he showed the Carrickfergus man a wheel at the entrance to Cascades to let him know the fight was on.

The Dubliner went for an early move at Druids and looked to have the honours in hand, but Seeley made a decisive pass at Lodge, squeezing Kennedy out and snatching his second win of the season.

Back in third and nearly 0.9s down on the leaders, Gearlink Kawasaki's Currie had to consolidate points in a lone third.
