‘Podiums have to be the target every weekend’ - Lowes

Pata Yamaha’s Alex Lowes set his fastest ever laptime on race tyres at the Aragon WorldSBK test while looking for improved corner entry and says now the target must be to challenge Ducati and Kawasaki for the podium at every round.

Lowes scored another fourth place in the first race in Spain after a nightmare final free practice and Superpole, but a false netural and off-track excursion put paid to a repeat in Sunday’s leg. Lowes stuck in a 1’50.438 in the Monday test.

“Podiums have to be our target now, we have to challenge the green and red bikes every weekend.  It’s my best ever lap on race tyres around Aragon, so I should be happy. We tried lots of things, some were good, some were not so good which is normal in a test, so now we have to piece everything together to make the perfect setting.

“There are a couple of areas of the bike I am trying to improve so we have been trying lots of different things without losing time or feeling the areas where we are strong. We worked a lot on corner entry and I think there are lots of positives.”
