Scotland’s John McPhee believes he is ready for the start of the 2017 Moto3 season in Qatar after a successful test at Losail even though the final sessions yesterday were cut short by high winds and a sandstorm.
The Oban rider finished 12th on the overall timesheet with his best of 2’07.327 from Saturday but is quietly happy with his performance.
“It was a really positive start to the day with a good feeling from the word go. Track conditions were poor for the first session and then improved for the second one - but unfortunately I had a small crash after just a few laps, which limited my track time. For the last session we tested a few things back to back and finally finished the day with my best lap time,” said McPhee on Saturday evening.
“Today was a bit of a nothing day with only a total of four fast laps. The weather turned too bad and the sessions were cancelled so there wasn't much we could do. I still feel like I'm heading into the race weekend in a good position and this is definitely the best shape we've finished pre-season testing in. I've got some things I'd like to try throughout practice next week,” he added last night.
