Qatar MotoGP test: ‘A lot of effort to go slower’ - Rossi

Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi is worried about his progress, or lack of, on the final day of MotoGP testing at Qatar as he managed to lap slower than on Saturday using the same setup which had seen him set the second fastest time.

Rossi admits he is worried - especially given the pace of new team-mate and fastest man Maverick Vinales - that he hit the ceiling on Saturday with a 1’54.732 and was almost half a second slower yesterday.

The Doctor said it could have been down to track conditions but he was only one of three riders not to improve and the only one in the top ten.

“We started with the same bike to continue our programme, but unfortunately I didn't have the same feeling and the same speed. It looks like the condition of the track changed a bit and we were unable to improve. I didn't have the same feeling as yesterday and I was a bit slower. We put in a lot of effort to go a bit slower,” said Rossi, speaking at the track.

"It looks like with the bike we have good potential, because Vinales is very fast. I think that he and his team are able to understand in a shorter time the way to make this bike at the maximum and we are a bit in delay. So we are a bit worried and we hope that we can be stronger for the first race."
