Redline KTM sign Scott Deroue for Motostar challenge

Redline KTM have signed Dutchman Scott Deroue to ride their RC290R in this year’s British Motostar Champion, which forms part of the MCE British Superbike support classes.

The 19-year old Dutchman competed in the entire Moto3 championship in 2014 riding a Kalex-KTM and is a former race winner in the MotoGP Red Bull Rookies Cup. He joins Tim Walker’s very successful team from his Loughborough-based KTM dealership.

The team has battled for the Motostar championship the past two seasons and took seven wins from 12 starts in 2014, with rider Joe Irving missing out on the championship by just three points.

Despite only having ridden Silverstone from the British circuits, Deroue is confident he will be a title challenger from the first round at Donington Park in early April.

Running the no.95 on the distinctive orange bike after his year of birth, Scott will be based in Holland between the races as he looks to build on finishing his education.

“I’m very happy to reach a deal with Redline. Without Tim giving me this opportunity, I would be sitting at home and not going racing,” said Deroue

“We have a good bike and, for sure, the best team in the Motostar paddock. So the package is perfect. In terms of the UK circuits, I only know Silverstone having ridden it three times in Moto3 and Red Bull Rookies. But we will test before the season starts and I will have to learn the tracks by pushbike, computer games and videos.

“Everyone talks about Cadwell Park being a crazy track, but I think I am looking forward to Snetterton the most as, from what I’ve seen from videos, the track looks fast and will suit my style. The goal is simple; to win the championship. If the season goes well and we find the budget, we also hope to wild card at the Dutch and British GPs.”
