Sepang MotoGP test: Rossi 'has good speed' with new Yamaha

Valentino Rossi is already in a good place with the new-spec Yamaha M1 on which he will contest the 2018 MotoGP series as he says he has much more feeling with the front and can push for a good laptime when he needs to.

The bike is based on the 2016 chassis which Johann Zarco rode last season and The Doctor said he happier after one day's testing at Sepang than he was for the whole of 2017.

"I don't remember last year one day like this. I was always complaining. I'm happy because in November we did a good job, we understand better after the confusion during the season and the chassis of today is a new chassis, an evolution, but based on the 2016. So when I ride this chassis I feel better. My riding is normal. I feel better in the front and when I push I have good speed," said Rossi, speaking at the track.

"And after we concentrate also in other areas because we try two different engines to improve the acceleration and are not so bad. Also the top speed is quite good. And especially on the electronic, because on the electronic we need to work especially to save the rear tyre. But the first impression is positive."
