Cookstown BE Suzuki’s Derek Sheils has carried on at Cookstown where he lft off at Tandragee, taking pole for tomorrow’s KDM Hire Cookstown 100 with a fastest lap of 1’25.159ses for the 2.1-mile Orritor Circuit, half a second faster than the ‘Mullingar Missile’ Derek McGee with William Dunlop 0.051s further back in third getting in testing miles on the Temple Golf Club R1 Yamaha that he now has use of for the major international road races thanks to Tim Martin.
James Cowton was a terrific fourth fastest on his debut on the McAdoo Kawasaki Superbike. Continuing his quest for TT Mountain Course Licence points Guy Martin was ninth fastest with a lap time of 1’30.040s.
Dunlop was fastest in the Supersport class half a second clear of two young chargers Adam McLean and Paul Jordan with last week’s Tandragee winner McGee.
In a surprise appearance on Wilson Craig’s Supersport Honda Guy Martin was fifth fastest a quarter of a second behind McGee with Cowton in sixth position.
Sam Wilson, Paul Robinson and McLean are the front row starters in the Moto3 / 125GP class, while Joseph Loughlin continued his fine start to the season by taking pole position for the Senior Support ‘A’race while Andy McAllister topped the Junior Support ahead of Loughlin.
