Silverstone BSB: Elliott clinches Superstock 1000 title

Morello Kawasaki’s Josh Elliott has been crowned Pirelli National Superstock Champion after his title rival Alastair Seeley was pushed off track on the last lap, allowing Elliott to take second and the championship.

South African Hudson Kennaugh grabbed the holeshot and was quickly joined by Elliott and Luke Quigley in a battle for the lead.

Tyco BMW’s Seeley started from eighth on the grid but battled through to the leading pack, setting a new lap record en route, before picking his way past Quigley, Elliott and then Kennaugh for the lead.

As the quartet entered the last lap, all four having lead the race at one stage in an epic battle, it was Seeley who was in front, closely followed by Kennaugh.

Elliott made his move past Quigley, slipstreaming his way to third down the Wellington Straight, before Kennaugh moved alongside Seeley in the fight for first.

Kennaugh had the inside line and dived through to the lead, pushing Seeley wide and off the track in a hard but fair move.

Seeley was pushed so wide he rejoined the track in sixth, meanwhile Elliott crossed the line in second place and consequently wrapped up the Superstock 1000 Championship.

Luke Quigley bagged his first podium of the year on his Bathams BMW, coming through ahead of Adam Jenkinson and Joe Burns.

Alastair Seeley eventually took the chequered flag in sixth place, knowing his title hopes were over.

Josh Wainwright beat Jesse Trayler to seventh before Ben Godfrey and Johnny Blackshaw rounded out the top ten.
