Silverstone BSB: Linfoot ends race weekend 'on a high'

Honda Racing’s Dan Linfoot put his Fireblade back on to the rostrum during the second MCE British Superbike race at Silverstone, with a third place finish.

The rider started strongly from the front row but the drama intensified when he was engaged in a fight for second with Showdown rival, Tyco BMW’s Michael Laverty, but the S1000RR just pipped the Honda on the final lap.

Linfoot’s last podium was at Oulton Park and he enjoyed battling up the sharp end with Laverty and eventual race winner, Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes. With a third place finish and seventh in race-one, Linfoot has leap-frogged Tyco BMW’s Tommy Bridewell in the overall standings, and currently lies in fifth spot on the table.

“It is a nice feeling to be back on the podium with Josh and Michael. It is a fantastic job by the team and it shows that there is life in the Fireblade yet,” said Linfoot, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.

“I am looking forward to Brands now after coming off a high here. I want to keep pushing and keep determined for more podiums - I want to keep smelling the champaign.

“Given my injury earlier in the year getting into the Showdown was a great achievement for me and was a weight off my shoulders at Oulton Park. Michael and Bridewell are my rivals for Showdown positions and I have jumped Tommy now in the standings - so Michael is the next target so I need to keep locked on him.

“When I am in fight I love it. I knew Michael was on the SC1 and I thought I needed to fight and needed to stay in front as long as I have to. I love a fight out on track and I do enjoy it a lot.”
