Snetterton BSB: Last lap drama gifts Irwin Supersport win

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin was able to pick up the pieces after Luke Stapleford collected Kyle Ryde on the final lap to bag his first Motorpoint British Supersport win of the year.

CF Motorsport’s Ryde managed to pull out a lead of over a second but championship leader Stapleford clawed him back in as the laps counted down.

The fastest lap of the race helped him tag on to the back of Ryde as they started the last lap and a move looked imminent.

The pair were hard on the brakes into Montreal and Stapleford moved to the inside in an attempt to take the lead.

However, Stapleford out braked himself and had nowhere to go but collide with Ryde, taking them both into the gravel trap.

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Irwin couldn’t believe his luck, riding past the incident and into the lead.

The Carrickfergus rider came across the line three seconds clear for his first victory of the year.

Traction Control’s James Rispoli bagged his first podium of the year in second place, ahead of Luke Hedger who held off Appleyard Macadam’s Danny Webb on the final lap to grab third by 0.048 of a second.

Smiths Triumph’s Jake Dixon recovered from mid-race bike issues to finish fifth, ahead of EVO winner Joe Collier and Aussie Levi Day.

Rounding out the top ten was Jamie Perrin, Luke Jones and Matt Paulo.
