Snetterton BSB: Stapleford chases Mackenzie in Supersport practice

Stauff Connect Academy’s Tarran Mackenzie replicated the earlier Dickies British Supersport free practice session at Snetterton, by reaching the top of the timesheets once again.

A 1’52.937 was more than good enough to go P1, but the diminutive racer had reigning British Supersport champion, Luke Stapleford snapping at his heels. The Profile Racing backed Triumph was only 0.03 seconds off the time set by Mackenzie. Stapleford is competing this weekend, as there are no World Supersport races this week.

FAB Racing’s Brad Ray ended the day third quickest followed by Johnston and Jones. Westmoreland, Hedger and Reid completed the top ten. Quattro Plant Cool Kawasaki’s Andy Reid was second on the overall sheets, until he crashed unhurt at Riches and slipped back to tenth overall.

But FP2 was red flagged with three minutes remaining after a crash involving Gearlink Kawasaki’s Luke Hedger and Dale Sports Surface’s Richard Steadman at Oggies. Both were declared OK at the trackside, but the session was never resumed. Dean Ellison, onboard his Triumph T3 Moto2 bike finished the day in 31st on the timing screens.
