Snetterton BSB test: Ellison pleased with setup steps

JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Ellison is pleased with the setup work done at the two-day Snetterton MCE British Superbike test and feels confident he can pick up where left off at Oulton Park.

The Kendal man ended the test third on the combined timesheets and said that work he needed to do was required as the bike is completely different than it was last year with new engine specs, chassis and other parts.

“The bike is so different that the data we have from last year wouldn’t be any use. We spent a lot of the time just fine tuning small things, trying a little pre-load here, re-bound there and got in some fast laps, especially in the last session,” said Ellison, speaking to bikesportnews.com from Heathrow.

“It was near perfect weather, so we were able to work through everything we wanted, try some new parts and make some really good progress on the JG Speedfit Kawasaki.

I’m really confident we’ll be able to challenge for podiums and the win when we return. Obviously the racer in me is a little disappointed to not top the test, but the  times were incredibly quick and fair play to Josh as those laps of his were pretty special. We’re going to get some new parts ahead of the next race so I’m excited to see what they are.”
