Snetterton BSB: ‘We need to regroup’ – Westmoreland

JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Westmoreland has vowed to ‘regroup and come back stronger’, after he came away with two technical DNF’s during the MCE British Superbike round at Snetterton.

In both races yesterday the Northerner experienced mechanical issues with his ZX-10R. In the opening race he had a problem with the sensor, and then the clutch went at the start of the final race, resulting in a lot of chatter, and once again his bike came to an abrupt stop and he retired to the pits.

With no points awarded this weekend Westmoreland now slips to 21st in the overall championship standings, but despite the DNF’s he is feeling optimistic going into the next round at Knockhill.

“We need to regroup and come back stronger, it’s a massive shame. But we had quite a good pace this weekend. We were running inside the top ten on Saturday and Sunday and we will come back stronger,” said Westmoreland, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“In race one a sensor broke, and that’s outside anyone’s hands and it is one of those things. In race two the clutch went off the line and I had an awful lot of chatter and then it eventually went all together. But this happens and this is why we go racing.

“You have up days and down days – and at the moment we are having a few more down than up. But it’s in the teams DNA and mine that we will keep chipping away and dig deep, and I am confident going into the next round at Knockhill.”
