Thruxton BSB: Linfoot growing in confidence after rostrum

Honda Racing’s Dan Linfoot has regained his confidence that ebbed away after an MCE British Superbike round two crash, to soar back on to the podium after ending race one in second at Thruxton.

He was able to amass a solid points haul at the Hampshire track with a top five finish in the final race to add to his podium credits. Now the Yorkshireman wants to build on the momentum he has going into the next round at Cadwell Park.

“It has helped my confidence - getting on the podium in race one. It is a good chunk of points and it is helping getting me on my way into the Showdown. It is good to be at the front and fighting with the leaders,” said Linfoot, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.

“It is good for the team and hopefully I can build some momentum and continue to finish this way for the rest of the season. I thought I rode well, and felt I didn’t lack anything, hopefully the confidence is back. Things just clicked here and I am doing some testing on Wednesday at Cadwell and looking forward to that.”

But the podium was bittersweet for Linfoot as his team-mate, Jason O’Halloran was hauled up in hospital after breaking his leg and hand after a crash in qualifying, and Linfoot knows all too well that feeling of watching the races from a sick bed.

“I know what Jason is going through and it’s not nice. It is disappointing for him and I’ve been there watching races from a hospital bed this year, and I know it is hard for him - but I hope he gets better soon.”
