Voltcom Suzuki switch to Marelli electronics for 2015

Voltcom Suzuki’s pairing of Alex Lowes and Randy De Puniet will benefit from a switch to Magneti Marelli electronics in 2015 after team boss Paul Denning decided to move away from their existing Motec system.

The team has used Motec since it moved into World Superbikes but will now use the Italian system from the New Year onwards as Suzuki is keen to use the same platform across all the major championships.

“Suzuki want the same ECU platform across MotoGP, World Superbike and the national Superbikes classes, and the new WSBK regulations are an opportunity to reconsider the best way forward for the next few seasons,” said Denning, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“The team are hard at work concentrating on engine preparation, overall weight optimisation with some wind tunnel testing in Italy in January as well as the extensive project of transferring the electronics system.

“We will return to Southern Europe for two further tests, in Portugal and Spain, at the end of January before the freight leaves for Australia and the first race weekend of the season at Phillip Island, on February 22.”
