‘We have to work together to beat Marquez’ - Vinales

Maverick Vinales believes that he and new Yamaha MotoGP team-mate Valentino Rossi cannot afford to fall out as they will only be able to take on Marc Marquez if they work together.

Speaking at the team launch in Madrid, the young Spaniard emphasises how important maintaining a good relationship is - something that may not be easy with the master of mindgames.

"It's important for Yamaha, you know. When you have a good relationship, you can develop well the bike, you can talk together and that's a good point. I think the strong point last year was that Aleix and myself, we were really close and we were improving so much the bike, and fast, because we were working together,” he said.

"And I think still this year we need to do with Valentino, because it will be not easy to beat Marc - and if we want to do it, we cannot be fighting against us, we have to work also a little bit together.

“When I was a kid he was my idol - and still he is. If we lose respect, it will be no good, for myself. Not just about the media or something like this, but because I saw him like an idol, and I hope we can get respect along our career from teammates."
