Factory MV Agusta World Supersport rider Lorenzo Zanetti will join the Tsingtao Dickies British Supersport squad for the Thruxton round in two weeks’ time.

Zanetti is just starting a massive summer break due to the curious way in which the World Superbike calendar has been structured this year and will ride for Dave Tyson’s team to help keep him sharp over the summer months.

“The BSB Championship has always fascinated me. I think it is one of the best and hard national series, so when I received the call from the MV Agusta team in England I accepted immediately,” he said

“I want to see this series and I cannot wait to race. Sure it is not easy as I need to learn a new track and adapt to the different bike rules, but I also hope to help the team to improve the bike for the future. I will use this race to stop the long summer break and I think there is no better way than to race. I want to thank MV Agusta and Tsingtao Racing team for giving me this opportunity.”

“Bringing Lorenzo into the squad shows the support we get from Andrea and the team at MV Agusta in Italy,” Tyson added.
 
“Thruxton will be a great track for him and I'm sure will get to grips with it really quickly. It's great to get a world championshipship rider to British Supersport and I know he will have a target on his back but he's more than capable of running at the front.

“Excited is an understatement and it will show the actual Level of the bike to enable us to get a rider for the remainder of the year. Now we move to Thruxton with a great team and hope to bring some silverware home.”

Zanetti will more than likely be joined on the grid by Luke Stapleford, also in a WSS summer break, as he won the Sprint race at Snetterton on Saturday and will be keen to keep his hand in.
