Oulton BSB: Buchan 'surprised the pace is so hot'

FS-3 Kawasaki’s Danny Buchan is surprised by the pace in today’s two Bennetts British Superbike free practice sessions given the weather conditions but a new personal best lap at Oulton netted him second on the combined timesheets.

Buchan in fact set three new PB times in the afternoon practice to end half a second off quickest man Josh Brookes with a 1’34.583, which is a tenth off Brookes’ lap record.

“It’s been a good day overall. I’m surprised the pace is so hot considering that the conditions haven’t been the best with rain,” said Buchan, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

I beat my personal best lap round here three times in second practice. My bike has improved a lot since round two and that’s very clear to see from todays lap times.

“I feel really good, we have some changes to make tomorrow for qualifying but overall I’m very relaxed and feel mega so if we can carry that forward to the races we should be in the mix.

“My goal approaching this weekend has been to close down the gap Tommy and Josh had on me here at round 2, all good so far but after race 1 we will see how we fare.”
