Oulton BSB: Ducati's Redding wins race two

Be Wiser Ducati’s Scott Redding has taken the first Bennetts British Superbike race win of the day at Oulton, crossing the line a tenth ahead of team-mate Josh Brookes who nicked second from Tommy Bridewell as they crossed the line.

Oxford Ducati’s Bridewell took the lead from Bradley Ray on lap six with Redding coming through a few corners later and the Devizes rider was looking for a way past on the outside at Lodge on the final lap.

He couldn’t make it work and didn’t get a great exit which allowed Brookes to get the advantage on the exit and as they came up Deer Leap, Brookes snuck ahead with Ray three seconds further back in fourth.

Smiths BMW’s Peter Hickman took advantage of Andrew Irwin’s one-race ban to climb into the final Showdown spot with an eighth-place finish while Tarran Mackenzie was one place further back but moved closer to securing his place in the top six.

Mackenzie’s McAMS Yamaha team-mate Jason O’Halloran finished in sixth place behind FS-3 Kawasaki’s Danny Buchan with Christian Iddon, who has one race left to make the Showdown, in seventh place.

Luke Mossey completed the top ten with Xavi Fores, also an outside Showdown contender, in 11th. Luke Stapleford came back to 11th after an incident with James Ellison which saw the MV Agusta destroyed on lap three and brought out the safety car.

Joe Francis, Claudio Corti and and Glenn Irwin rounded out the points scorers with Alex Olsen 16th.
